Alberta’s the place to be !!
Happy New Year to clients old and new! I’m looking forward to this new year of opportunity. From all the economic reports, Alberta is the Province which is going to provide the most jobs and offer the best opportunities for growth in 2012 compared to anywhere else in North America. In 2011, Alberta gained 99,000 new jobs whereas Quebec lost 55,000 jobs. This is just one example which epitomizes the focus on our Province.
In the January issue of Foodservice and Hospitality magazine, the editorial by Rosanna Caira states that we are no longer just eating to satiate our appetites. Instead, the focus is on “what we eat, where we eat it and where it’s grown or raised. Our preoccupation with food is also becoming obsessive, driven in part by health and nutrition concernds, ethical and social beliefs and by media buzz. Undeniably, food is red hot”.
Restaurant ramblings from the street . . .
Crush Restaurant is under new ownership and is being renovated to “pub it up”. The new name is the “Pig & Duke” and I wish Kyle Gordon and his associates best of luck with this new venture.
Keep your eyes open for a new TV show called “You Gotta Eat Here”. They were recently filming in Western Canada and two local facilities are being featured – one in High River and one in Turner Valley. This show is similar to “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dive” with a Canadian spin! Should be fun to see local eateries on this new show.
I look forward to keeping in touch! Gord
