2012 is off and running – exciting times ahead!

We already have the first month of 2012 under our belt – hard to believe! The hospitality market has been very active and there’s definitely a sense of optimism and great energy in Alberta. It’s invigorating to be part of such an exciting and vibrant industry!

I was pleased to read a recent report from CRFA (Canadian Restaurant & Food Association) that states that restaurants were among the top job creators in 2011.monster fairings As they wrote, “Canada’s restaurant industry created 28,000 in 2011 making it the third-largest job creator last year. This jump represents an annual increase of 2.6% over 2010 which is the strongest growth since 2007. yamaha r3 fairings,The restaurant industry now employs more than 1.1 million Canadians or 6.5% of the country’s workforce – making it the fourth-largest private sector employer in the country!”

In addition, according to the CRFA report, “Restaurants are a major employer of youth. More than 480,000 Canadians under the age of 25 work in foodservice, accounting for one in five youth jobs.  Now, that’s something to be proud of!

With so many young people involved in the restaurant industry, this new idea from the National Restaurant Association trade show is sure to be of interest.
